Middle Years Programme (IB MYP)
The Middle School programme of Miras International School is designed for students aged 11–16 (Grades 5–9) and integrates the requirements of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) with the educational standards of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

At this stage, students move from basic knowledge acquisition to more conscious, independent learning: they learn to analyze information, make connections between subjects, justify their viewpoints, and apply knowledge in real-life situations.
Learning connected to the real world
The IB MYP programme helps students understand how knowledge works beyond the classroom.
Learning is built around global themes and relevant world issues:
- globalization and sustainability
- scientific and technological innovations
- culture and expression
- societies and relationships
- human development in space and time
This approach develops a broad worldview, critical thinking, and a responsible attitude toward the world around them.

Learning at Miras
Multilingual learning
One of the key features of the school is a multilingual educational environment. English is not only a subject but also one of the languages of instruction and in-school communication. This enables students to confidently continue their studies in international programmes and prepare for admission to leading universities worldwide.
For international students, a Host Country Study course is provided, aimed at familiarising them with the history and culture of Kazakhstan, as well as learning the basics of the Kazakh language.
STEM and project-based learning
Starting from Grade 6, students take part in interdisciplinary STEM projects, where they learn to:
- conduct research
- analyse information
- develop solutions
- work in teams
- apply knowledge in practice
Project-based learning helps develop the skills needed for academic success and future professional development.
IB MYP Personal Project
A key milestone in Grade 9 is the IB MYP Personal Project.
Students independently choose a project topic based on their interests, investigate a selected issue, and create a final product or solution.
The Personal Project develops:
- independence
- research skills
- time management
- critical thinking
- presentation and self-reflection skills
Preparation for the next stage of education
The Middle School programme provides a strong academic foundation and consistent preparation for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) in Grades 11–12.
Upon completion of the programme, students may take the international IB MYP assessment and receive an internationally recognized certificate.
An environment for growth and self-discovery
Miras Middle School helps students not only deepen their knowledge but also develop independence, self-confidence, responsibility, and readiness to study in an international academic environment.
